The Open Tap Initiative is a nonprofit program that connects local breweries with charitable organizations to create limited-edition beers, with 100% of profits supporting the partnered cause. I was brought on as a freelance designer to create the brand identity, including a logo system and flexible templates for social content and presentations. Some of the designs shown are conceptual mockups, created to help the client visualize use across various brand touchpoints.

The Challenge

Build a visual identity that reflects both community-driven warmth and the craft beer culture, while maintaining flexibility for a wide range of uses—from digital storytelling to on-premise activations. The brand needed to feel trustworthy and mission-led, without losing its celebratory and local flavor.

The Solution

Created a custom logo system that feels handcrafted and welcoming, incorporating illustrative elements that nod to both beer culture and collaboration. Developed a cohesive visual language for social and presentation templates using bold iconography, simple color blocks, and clear type hierarchy—making it easy for the organization to communicate with breweries, charities, and supporters alike.

The Result

The new branding helped The Open Tap Initiative confidently launch and communicate its mission across community channels. The flexible templates provided the team with tools to scale storytelling, highlight partnerships, and build engagement. The identity captured the balance between fun and purpose—brewing togetherness, quite literally.
